Friday, August 30, 2013: Another busy day with international students. I just can't seem to get beyond this project. All the other work that I have to do is sitting there waiting to get finished, and I just can't get to it! I have letters to get out regarding SSP meetings (Student Success Plan) for the seniors which begin in a couple of weeks, I have a bunch of stuff to do for UCONN Early College Experience, and I have to get the Profile done. I haven't even downloaded the college acceptances from Naviance yet. And students are registering for the ECSU Dual Enrollment Program now too.
We had a young man from Argentina accepted, and he was supposed to come on Tuesday, but as soon as he and his parents arrived, they showed up at school. They toured the campus and did all that other stuff and finally came to pre-register just as it was time for me to go home. So going home was not an option. I spent an extra hour doing the usual registration stuff, Jane reviewed his medical things, etc. They are a lovely family and he's looking forward to his time here in the USA. He spent time at UCONN over the summer taking an English class. He wants to play basketball.
When I got home I was all ready to relax until I remembered that the sister missionaries and I were going to visit Ann G. So, at a little before 6:00, we left. We had a very nice visit and then on the way home we stopped at Newport Creamery to get ice cream. I got a peppermint stick cone, and it was scrumptious!
We got back here around 8:00 or 8:30. I read for a while and then went to bed.
Alexandra came home for the weekend to get her things together because Jay and Peter and going to help her move back to Boston on Monday (Labor Day).
