Day 14

Monday, July 8, 2013. It's been a good day, albeit busy. I didn't sleep well last night, waking up at midnight and unable to go back to sleep, so I looked through my emails, bought some books for my Kindle, and read. Around 2:00 a.m. or so, I went back to bed and eventually fell asleep. I didn't wake up until the alarm went off, and didn't roll out of bed until 5:10. I took a shower, got dressed, made the bed, made oatmeal for breakfast (by now it was 5:35 and getting late). I did things like open the chickens, and packed Henry up to go home to his mommy. Jay hugged Henry and said, "I'm gonna miss you little pain in the neck."

I was supposed to leave home at 6:00, but that didn't happen. It was almost 6:15 when I left the house. I got to Sofia's at 6:45, and I thought I'd be late for work, but miracle of miracles, I punched in four minutes early!

I did all my usual morning stuff. And actually, I realized that I hadn't sent out transcripts to NCAA, so I got the list from Jeanne and got that done post haste. Easy-peasy as Alexandra would say.

I had a private tuition student to pre-register on our new system (PowerSchool), and his parents are both artists. His mother loved my office and said it as "happy." I liked that!

Denise G., Director of Curriculum, dropped by my office looking for Jeanne, and I snagged her for a picture, and here it is. I love her. She's wonderful :).

Then Kristin M., Band Director, stopped by with her twin daughters. She needed some student addresses for a mailing she was doing. So I got some photos, one with the four of us and one with her daughters. They're not identical.

Don't they look so cute with their glasses?

Notice brown eyes and darker hair (Leah) and blue eyes and lighter hair (Cara).

I took an early lunch and walked for a little more than a mile. I was sweating when I got back to the office. Then I started typing up instructions for pre-enrolling a student in PowerSchool. That will make my life easier.

Leo B. came by my office and we chatted for a few minutes about that young student who drowned in Hopeville Pond last week. He was there with his church group. Leo spoke at his funeral. He said that instead of talking about his life ending so soon, he said he spoke about, "Did you fulfill God's plan?" I thought that was a cool topic. Maybe Jay can use it when he speaks at Dennis G.'s memorial service on Thursday.

When I got home and sat down for a few moments to relax, Steve (my piano teacher) texted me. He was at the nursing home around the corner visiting his mother and had this neat-oh amplifier for my keyboard. He charged me $350, which I believe is a bargain. So I got in my car and drove around the corner to the nursing home. He explained how to use it as we bent down looking at it on the side of the road, and then I brought it home. He said I could call him if I have problems using it. I still need a speaker and a microphone. Then I practiced for a few minutes before heading out to my lesson. It was a good one.

Then...the day isn't over yet...Matt had texted me and needed me to stop at the fire house to pay a bill and he gave me a check to deposit in the truck fund account. While I was there, I got him to take a photo of me with a fire truck....neat-oh (that's my word for today).

And now I'm going to watch a show and go to bed.
